   QUEENSLAND TENTPEGGING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2011 Queensland tentpegging championships were held at the Kalbar Showgrounds. Kalbar is a town just North of Boonah on the Scenic Rim in South East Queensland.

It was great to have new & returning riders compete at the competition, along with the usual Qld Teams. We ran 8 rounds team lances, 6 team swords 2 rounds pairs lances & swords and all the overheads.  I would think those who attended would have to say our young shining star from the weekend was 7 year old Pypa Green and the youngest of the QTA juniors. This little girl has come a long way from last year, due to her dedication and love for the sport, her results speak for itself – a true little champion.

Well what a Fantastic weekend was had at the Queensland Tentpegging Championships held at Kalbar Show Grounds 19th – 20th November, 2011. Riders and spectators had a great weekend, and thanks to the Kalbar Show Society for having us and the great canteen facilities.

The weather was a bit warm with 38 degree days, the weekend was well organised and ran smoothly. QTA would like to thank its sponsors, without their support it makes it difficult to run these events.  A huge thanks to CopRice and Brigalow Clothing, your donations were well received by the winners, thank you very much for you continued support.

Thanks must go to the Aelec Team from Tamworth & Michelle Gorey from Griffin, for travelling up and supporting our event, we all need to support each others’ events to keep the sport alive.   Special thanks must also go to Peter Gunner, who has been away from pegging for some years, but came along and was our peg judge for the weekend, to Kay Taylor also and ex pegger who pencilled for the event and new-comer Julie Ashmole who jumped into take over the pencilling, when Kay was called away and of course our Judge Bill Harrison, our organisers & scorers Kim Duxbury, Lisa Dohle-Smith & Alycia Kuhnert.

Queensland is of course known for their great prizes to the winners of events and they were spread around, that I would think all riders would have come away with a great prize, again thanks to our sponsors.
